Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

Had interview scheduled at 9, got there 8:30. We had a seat and was called in at 9:30 by an officer. She was polite, but strict.

She had a file on us as thick as a dictionary, and it was about to get thicker.
She asked a few questions:

Petitioner:
If I was US Citizen
Have I ever filed a petition before
Any children

Beneficiary:
Ever been to the US before?
ever been married before?
asked if she was being treated good.

She looked at our birth papers, I have a birth certificate from Trinidad, wife had school papers from India since she did not have a birth cert. She questioned my citizenship since I did not have a naturalization cert - but I mentioned my parents were both naturalized and I was issued a US passport. She looked up information on my parents, scrutinized it and she said she'll let it go but told me that I really should get a certificate issued.

A Wonderful experience!

I had my interview for AOS at 11:00 am. We arrived very early from around 9:30 am and chilled in the parking lot across the street and reviewed our documents and made sure that we had everything in order. By the way, make sure to have $5 on your person to pay for parking.
At 10:15 we made our way to the building. One of the security guards was not so friendly, but the others were fine and one even wished us good luck.
We sat in the crowded waiting room and about 11:15 am we were called in by an officer. She was very nice. She asked my husband for proof of citizenship and that was all. She asked me when we were married. Do you have any children? She asked for the Birth certificate for our daughter together. She asked us for our documentations proving that we were in a legitimate marriage. We brought lots of evidence but she only wanted the copies and not the originals. We kept giving her documents until she said she thought that was e... read complete review

My husband had his AOS Interview today. Everything was perfect and everyone was pleasant...from the security guards to the immigration officer. Awesome experience. I documented it here...http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=77488

All the best to all of you who are still going through the process.

4/26/06 .... 15 mins interview. Don't expect much of this office because looks can be deceiving. Officer was polite yet strict, she asked questions in the air expecting my husband or me to answer. Didnt get stamp due to securuty clearence pending. Got my Green Card in the mail June 19. 2006.

We arrived 30 minutes early to my husband's AOS interview. Even though there were more than 50 people in the waiting (looking like they were preparing for the citizenship exam), we were taken in 20 minutes before our appointment time. The interview was quick, serious, professional and painless.
